THE CHALLENGE

One customer journey.
Multiple systems behind it.

The premium podcast experience depended on several systems performing very different jobs.

The website and customer experience lived in HubSpot. Payments were processed through Stripe. Subscriber provisioning and private podcast feeds were handled through Supporting Cast. Podcast content needed to flow back into the website, while customer and subscription context needed to remain useful inside the CRM.

The challenge wasn’t simply connecting APIs.

It was making those systems behave like one coherent experience for the listener.

REAL-TIME PROVISIONING

From payment to private feed
in one continuous journey.

A listener selected a subscription and completed payment through Stripe.

After successful subscription, a serverless backend function passed the subscriber and relevant subscription information to Supporting Cast. Supporting Cast provisioned the subscriber and generated a personalized private podcast feed. The resulting feed details were returned through the integration/webhook flow.

During this process the website displayed a feed-setup state, keeping the infrastructure activity behind the interface. Once provisioning completed, the listener was redirected to the feed setup experience where they could select a podcast platform or use their private feed URL.

The listener didn’t need to know which system created the subscription, provisioned the feed or synchronized the data. The integration layer handled that complexity behind the interface so the journey could remain consistent with the podcast brand.

IDENTITY & ACCESS

Authentication without breaking
the branded experience.

Supporting Cast’s access mechanism was incorporated into the HubSpot experience rather than replaced by a separate authentication system.

A subscriber could initiate access using their email, receive the secure access communication, and return into the branded website experience where account, feed and gated content functionality could be presented.

CONTENT ENGINEERING

Turning an external podcast feed
into a structured content system.

Episode information was retrieved from Supporting Cast through serverless integration logic and synchronized into HubDB.

HubDB became the structured content layer used by the HubSpot website for episode and series experiences. This allowed the website to query, organize, filter and render podcast content without manually maintaining individual episode pages.

Listeners could move from subscription through private-feed setup and premium content access without needing to understand the systems operating behind the experience.

Customer and subscription context could remain connected to the CRM and support ongoing lifecycle communication rather than ending at the point of payment.
